Electromobility Shop Window: TÜV NORD committed to Metropolitan Region
Hanover: The decision has been taken. The Federal Government has selected the regions to be funded within the framework of the ‘Electromobility Shop Window’ programme. In addition to Berlin/Brandenburg, Bavaria/Saxony and Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony’s bid was also successful. As a large technical service provider from the region with many years of experience with alternative drives, TÜV NORD supports the “electrification” of the Metropolitan Region Hanover, Brunswick, Göttingen, Wolfsburg, under the regional banner ‘Our horsepower is electrical. eMobility in Lower Saxony’.
“TÜV NORD played an important role when Lower Saxony applied to become a Metropolitan Region and will now contribute to the development of the ‘mobility shop window’ with TÜV NORD know-how and infrastructure”, says Axel Richter, responsible for all aspects of electromobility at TÜV NORD.
A particular focus is the eSTATION, which TÜV NORD inaugurated at the end of last year together with the Minister President of Lower Saxony, David McAllister. This solar charging station in Hanover has a total of nine charging points, where visitors can charge their electric cars, scooters or e-bikes for free. “The eSTATION, which we contributed to the application as a project for funding, provides important information so that we can put safe electric vehicles onto the roads as soon as possible – with reliable batteries and improved driving range. The further development of the solar charging station, e.g. also incorporating wind power, is therefore of great importance for us”, explains Richter. In addition, development of a guide to the charging infrastructure is planned within the framework of the ‘shop window’ project, in order to ensure that professionals are well prepared for future work in the area of electromobility.
TÜV NORD will also be presenting its activities in the field of electromobility at the HANNOVER MESSE trade fair, due to take place between 23 and 27 April 2012. Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to try out two- and four-wheeled electric vehicles on two outdoor test tracks and in Hall 25 over an area of 10,000 square metres – enabling them to acquire their first experiences with this form of mobility. In addition to TÜV NORD-vehicles, electric vehicles from other exhibitors and manufacturers will also be available. TÜV NORD engineers will be on the spot to ensure that safety comes first for drivers and exhibitors.
