TÜV NORD Mobilität acquires adapt engineering GmbH
Hanover/Nordhausen: TÜV NORD Mobilität, the mobility arm of the TÜV NORD Group, has acquired the company adapt engineering GmbH, which is based in Nordhausen. With this acquisition, TÜV NORD Mobilität is pursuing its growth strategy towards becoming an all-round engineering services provider. A particular strength of adapt engineering GmbH is its wide-ranging expertise in the testing and development of engines and components. As its name suggests, it also has considerable know-how in system and component adaptation.
"The merger of the two companies represents a continuation of the cooperation which has existed up to now", says Axel Richter, Director of the Institute for Vehicle Technology and Mobility of TÜV NORD Mobilität, "adapt engineering will continue to work as an independent company."
Adapt engineering offers highly-specialised services, such as for example thermodynamic optimisation and emission reduction for all types of internal combustion engines. It also works intensively in the areas of thermomanagement, exhaust aftertreatment and gas-fuelled engine technology. The company is equipped with CAD workstations and manufactures prototypes and trial samples in house, while a further aspect is manufacture of power trains for special applications. The year 1993 saw the establishment of adapt engineering with staff and equipment from the development section of the former IFA Motorenwerke Nordhausen. Today, the firm has a 30-strong workforce and is active on the international stage. "We are very pleased indeed to have found a strong shareholder and partner in the form of TÜV NORD Mobilität", explains Professor Dr. Ferdinand Herms, who will continue to manage the company together with Horst Sülzle as former managing partner. "We are certain that each company will profit from what the other has to offer, especially with regard to experience with technical services, developments in the regulatory sector and international business."
