TÜV NORD Group - railway fire protection on track
Berlin/Essen: Fire protection is at the centre of the TÜV NORD Group presence at the Innotrans International Trade Fair for Transport Technology in 2010. The event, which is expanding rapidly year on year, will take place in Berlin from 21 to 24 September, and TÜV NORD Group can be found in Hall 7.2b at Stand 215, where the entire spectrum of advisory, certification and inspection services in the area of safety and reliability will be represented.
Rail experts from TÜV NORD Group expect that further fire protection rules will be implemented in the form of national and European regulations over the next few years. In the case of railways, aspects of emergency evacuation are also involved - in the approval process for railway vehicles and also with regard to planning approvals for buildings and tunnels. Preventive fire protection, fire analysis and emergency rescue is an area of expertise for TÜV NORD Group, as is creation of fire protection concepts and inspection of fire protection equipment.
An evening event - concerned with the theme of fire protection - will also take place during the Fair at the Berlin Representation of the Group in the historic Unter den Linden. Among the subjects to be discussed are those of smoke toxicity and changes to rules and regulations, along with their consequences. Interoperability is a further important topic at the TÜV NORD Group stand. Services on offer include evaluations of systems and partial systems (e.g. railway vehicles, tracks, energy supply systems and signal technology) for conformity with the TSI (Technical Specification for Interoperability), and development of quality and safety management systems. TÜV NORD CERT offers certification of quality management systems to the International Railway Industry Standard IRIS.
