Success with wind turbines is no coincidence – TÜV NORD at Husum WindEnergy 2010
TÜV NORD Group is presenting its services across the entire wind energy sector at Husum WindEnergy 2010, the foremost global wind energy exhibition. The specialists from TÜV NORD create site assessments for planners, erectors and operators all over the world and support worldwide wind energy projects - from the planning stage through design up to construction and operation of the turbines themselves. In its work, TÜV NORD can draw upon its long years of experience in the sector.
"As a full service supplier, TÜV NORD can always offer its customers and partners optimum solutions", emphasises Dr. Lars Sitzki, responsible for wind energy at TÜV NORD SysTec. Wind turbines can be certified according to all the usual international standards and guidelines. These include IEC, GL, Danish Standard (Dänische Richtlinie), DIBt and TAPS. TÜV NORD is accredited as a certification body for the design of offshore wind turbines by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany (BSH), and further official organisations and agencies have approved TÜV NORD Systec as a German type examination body.
TÜV NORD will also present some interesting new services at WindEnergy 2010 (21-25 September). These include, among others, plausibility reviews of wind potential studies and energy yield reports for wind turbines. "This is where we investigate if the results of yield prognoses are acceptable and have a solid basis in fact", says Verena Schneider, wind energy expert at TÜV NORD. "This means that our customers receive reliable verification of wind potential and yield forecasts."
The particular conditions that apply at specific locations have a decisive influence on the financial feasibility and the safety of wind turbines. Any location can be inspected and assessed by specialists from TÜV NORD Group. The focus is always on the fact that wind turbines and wind farms should be successful - financially and with regard to the energy they produce.
Safety, yield and availability are also very important factors when it comes to the operation of wind turbines. TÜV NORD Group offers inspections for predictive maintenance, non-destructive testing and damage analyses. Assistance is also available for matters of ongoing importance, for example achievement of the planned useful lifetime of wind farms, taking repowering measures or analyses of the useful residual lifetime into consideration. So-called 60 % reference yield verifications, as required by § 29 Wind Energy of the German Renewable Energy Source Act (EEG), will soon be added to the portfolio.
At the Husum WindEnergy 2010 exhibition, TÜV NORD will also be announcing cooperations with partners in the wind energy sector which will further increase the benefits to wind turbine planners and operators.
