TÜV NORD verifies Schüco carbon footprint
Bielefeld: TÜV NORD has certified the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) of Schüco International KG in Germany, a market leading provider of innovative windows, doors and facades. This means that the company, based in Bielefeld, not only promotes efficient energy and environmental management through its products, but also practises climate-friendly production and administration at its locations in Germany. In 2011, the certification-relevant CO2eq volume verified by TÜV NORD at Schüco amounted to 74,292 tonnes overall.
Schüco is active in 78 countries throughout the world as a system supplier with global competence in solar solutions, windows, doors and facades. For the first time, the company, based in Bielefeld, has now subjected its own locations in Germany to carbon footprint verification. This was performed by TÜV NORD in 2011 through assessments at the Weißenfels, Osterweddingen, Borgholzhausen sites and at the company headquarters in Bielefeld.
“Determination and independent certification of the carbon footprint is a milestone on the road towards further improvement. We are very pleased that Schüco is setting this positive marker for climate protection and that we at TÜV NORD were able to provide the necessary support”, said Holger Hoffmann, Head of Environmental and Climate Services at TÜV NORD CERT, when presenting the certificate.
“This first carbon footprint is an important basis for sustainable reductions in carbon emissions within our company. The carbon footprint provides yet more transparency and will improve our environmental and energy management over the long term”, explains Thomas Lauritzen, Corporate Spokesperson at Schüco.
