Noise protection
Traffic noise and industrial noise, but also sports and recreational noise, pollute the environment and in large amounts may even damage human health. Therefore regulatory limits and guideline values must be considered and followed, beginning with the planning phase of facilities and transport routes, for example, in licensing procedures. Companies, public authorities, private citizens, and courts have long been supported by TÜV NORD through reliable expert opinions on noise and substantiated recommendations.
We measure and create projections of noise emissions and noise pollution in the neighbourhood for facilities of all kinds and develop concepts for noise abatement. We also carry out acoustic investigations in the context of urban planning and noise abatement in urban planning.
We measure the exposure of workers to noise and vibration and advise industry in the development of low-noise machines.
We also identify and reduce noise nuisances for residents through the development of mitigation measures for leisure and sports facilities and construction sites. In architectural acoustics, we test sound insulation in buildings and we assess speech intelligibility in room acoustics.
In addition to measurements, we perform propagation calculations, develop solutions, and create technical and planning advice.
