TÜV NORD certificate for AutoVAZ: Russia's largest carmaker receives an ISO certificate
Russia's largest car manufacturer, AutoVAZ, has a successful environmental management system and fulfils the globally-valid ISO 14001:2004 standard.
In Düsseldorf, Volker Klosowski, board member of TÜV NORD AG, presented the certificate to Olga Anchishkina, General Director of AutoVAZ. The certificate confirms that the company has achieved the environmental protection benchmark level for international automobile manufacturers.
The TÜV NORD CERT auditors certified that the company adheres to the national and international environmental protection guidelines and is gentle on resources. In terms of environmental protection, these successes place AutoVAZ among the most most progressive and exemplary companies in Russia.
During the six-week certification process, the auditors examined the storage and handling of hazardous substances and the avoidance of water pollution, the recycling of waste and determined a high degree of energy efficiency along with considerably improved climate protection resulting from the avoidance of hazardous emissions at the Russian plant in Togliatti.
"The certificate verifies the continual further development and implementation of innovative and responsible environmental management", emphasised Volker Klosowski, commenting on the Russian company's dedication at the certificate presentation. "Whether looking at the company's dedication towards environmental protection, efficiency or the use of modern and cost-reducing occupational safety measures, the AutoVAZ efforts not only benefit the company, but also act as a role model for the entire supplier industry."
Above all, AutoVAZ - with its 100,000 employees and its main production site in Togliatti, Russia - is known for its Lada brand. The company manufactures 750,000 vehicle a year and has also been very successful in western Europe since the introduction of the scrapping bonus.
