Certificate features family awareness
Hanover/Essen: The TÜV NORD AG as well as TÜV NORD CERT and DMT have been awarded the certificate for profession and family audit. It is awarded by the Hertie welfare foundation. The certificate is awarded to companies that persistently implement personnel policies with family awareness. "I am very pleased that our successful instruments and measures taken to enhance the compatibility of profession and family have now received a visible honour", says Dr. Guido Rettig, chairperson of the board of directors of the TÜV NORD Group. "It will help us at the same time to position our company as an attractive employer inwards as well as outwards, especially with respect to current lack of engineers".
Already established are individual working-hours agreements or regulations for working hours under trust to sustain the compatibility of profession and family. Moreover, change of work place within the group is possible for family reasons. In addition, besides other measures, the TÜV NORD Group invests in comprehensive health and sickness prevention management.
For the coming three years, the companies involved have planned to expand this health management further and support management staff with regard to the compatibility of tasks and family responsibility.
Some of the goals must be fulfilled after one year, others after two years and the rest after three years. If the target agreements audited by the profession and family are observed, the validity of the certificate can be extended after three years. Targets and approaches are expressly supported by the works committees of the companies within the TÜV NORD Group.
Possible action spectrum is organised into eight fields: encompassing regulations of working hours, organisation, and place, via competent leadership, personnel development up to remuneration and monetary services and service for families. Measures must be implemented from all fields; the goal, however, is not as many solutions as possible, but rather to find and implement appropriate solutions. These take into account both the needs of employees as well as the possibilities of the respective company. If the interests are balanced out, both sides benefit: According to a study commissioned by profession and family, contentment and motivation have risen in 85 percent of all the cases; quality of work in 70 percent of the cases.
In the first auditing stage, companies of the TÜV NORD Group were involved, which account for about one-tenth of the workforce. "Our goal is that all companies join our measures", says Holger Sievers, member of the board of directors and personnel director of the TÜV NORD Group. Already in December two more companies of the TÜV NORD Group will presumably be certified: TÜV NORD EnSys Hanover and TÜV NORD SysTec.
The profession and family audit is an initiative of the non-profit-making Hertie foundation. Patrons are the Federal Ministries for family, seniors, women and youth as well as for economy and technology. The employer organizations BDA, BDI, DIHK and ZDH recommend to its member companies to participate. It is promoted by the European Union and the European Social Capital for Germany. The profession and family audit is a strategic management instrument that provides tailor-made and profitable solutions for better compatibility of profession and family. Already today there are more than 600 audited companies, among them 40 percent of DAX companies and 23 percent of the Top-100 companies.
