TÜV NORD Group recognised as family-friendly company
Five companies in the TÜV NORD Group received the certificate for family-friendly companies today in Berlin. This certificate recognises excellent performance in the area of work-life balance and family friendliness, and was officially presented by the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Kristina Schröder, and the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Peter Hintze. The certificate for the "work and family" audit recognises the achievements of the TÜV NORD Group in offering its staff an attractive workplace.
"Family-friendliness at the workplace is not only important for employees, it also benefits the company as a whole", says Kristina Schröder. "Employees who are supported by their employer in combining the demands of family and working life return from maternity or paternity leave earlier and are more productive. In addition, family-friendly companies are more attractive as employers. A future-proof and innovative economy cannot be sustained over the long term without family-friendly working conditions."
In the TÜV NORD Group it is possible for employees to agree on their own individual working hours in order to look after children or care for relatives. It is also possible to change the actual employment location for family reasons. In addition, TÜV NORD Group works on an ongoing basis to improve and support the health of its staff.
"One of the main cornerstones of our human resources policy is to ensure that work and family can successfully be combined, emphasises Dr. Guido Rettig, Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD Group: "This award demonstrates that we are on the right path. People who are able to successfully coordinate their work with the needs of the family are happier and more motivated, and making this possible is part of our corporate culture. This means that TÜV NORD Group will continue to be an attractive employer for engineers and other specialists in future."
TÜV NORD Group is currently developing yet more concepts to encourage family-friendliness - for example, it is intended to support employees with childcare and care of relatives in cooperation with suitable outside organisations.
The companies receiving the certificate were parent company TÜV NORD AG along with subsidiaries TÜV NORD CERT, TÜV NORD SysTec, TÜV NORD EnSys Hannover and DMT. Other TÜV NORD companies are to be audited next year.
