Expert conference discusses standards in modern boiler technology
Dortmund: The manufacture and operation of steam boiler installations are subject to many rules and regulations, and it can be difficult to maintain an overview of these. As a response to this, current laws and new developments in boiler technology will be presented at an expert conference on boiler operation technology to be held by TÜV NORD Akademie from 7 to 8 September in Dortmund/Germany. The focus of this event will be discussion and exchange of experience, and there will also be an industry exhibition.
Early steam boiler installations can hardly be compared with their modern counterparts. In addition to the requirements of the Technical Rules (TRD), which are intended to provide a sufficient measure of safety, modern steam boiler operation is subject to ever stricter conditions concerning environmental protection. "It has been possible to minimise risks for employees and third parties through ongoing adaptation of legislation to developments in the technical field, leading to more stringent safety standards", explains Eckard Grote, Technical Director for Pressure Equipment at TÜV NORD Systems.
"At the same time, high plant availability at low cost is a main concern for operators", continues Grote. This is where the conference on boiler technology has a role to play: participants from industry and independent experts will offer a comprehensive overview of the current legal situation as well as of the current status of new technical rules and regulations. As an additional aspect, technical trends and measures for increasing the cost-efficiency of steam boilers will be presented.
