Health AWARD
The HAWARD Health AWARD has now been presented in Hamburg for the first time. This health initiative, which was instigated by TÜV NORD, the BARMER GEK health insurance organisation and "impulse" magazine for managers along with other partners, honours the company with the best certified health management system. The main prize went to ThyssenKrupp VDM.
Gerhard Delling and Lottofee Franziska Reichenbacher hosted the evening at the Grand Hotel Elysée. Before the prizese in the various categories were presented, TÜV NORD Management Board Member and member of the HAWARD jury Holger Sievers explained to ARD moderator Delling how and why TÜV NORD is involved in the area of occupational health. "TÜV NORD has created a standard for occupational health management (Betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement - BGM) which is based on internationally-recognised rules and standards. We developed the standard together with health insurance organisations, companies, federations and public institutions. Now, organisations of all kinds can prove that they are committed to the health of their employees", explained Sievers
Five small and medium-sized enterprises, including one town administration, qualified for the prizes. The prerequisite was an occupational health management system certified by TÜV NORD. The AWARD Innovation 2011 for particularly innovative measures in this health area went to the company Dornseif Winterdienste from Münster. The AWARD for corporate health culture was presented to the town of Hückeswagen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Certificates of Good Practice 2011 were awarded to Metabolic Balance from Isen/Bavaria and to the Professor Baxmann orthodontics practice from Kempen/North Rhine-Westphalia. The main prize for the company with the best certified occupational health management system went to ThyssenKrupp VDM from Werdohl in the Sauerland region. ARD news presenter Marc Bator gave the laudation and presented the HAWARD to ThyssenKrupp VDM. Further congratulatory speeches were made by scientific journalist Jean Pütz, the former Lord Mayor of Hamburg Ole von Beust and media expert Jo Groebel.
There was also a charity tombola during the HAWARD Gala. The donations will be used to support the Hamburg Bambi Prizewinner for 2011 ("Silent Heroes" section) - KinderLeben e.V. - Germany's first day hospice for children.
The subject of occupational health management was not only in the spotlight during the Gala in the Grand Elysée Hotel, but also during the symposium which took place beforehand. Among others, guests heard keynote speeches from Prof. Dr. Gerald Hüther, a professor in brain science, and from the former German tennis professional and Davis Cup winner Carl-Uwe Steeb.
