OK for Kids: TÜV NORD audits child-friendliness at Familotel
Essen: The summer is the time for holidays and travel – particularly for families – and happiness and safety are just as important for children as they are for parents. This is the basis of the “OK for Kids” seal of quality awarded by TÜV NORD in cooperation with the German children’s organisation Deutscher Kinderschutzbund (DKSB). The Familotels Family Club Harz and Am Rennsteig have now been audited for child-friendliness by TÜV NORD.
The “OK for Kids” seal of quality indicates to parents that the services and products used by their families really are child-friendly, and that infrastructure is suitable for children. All in all, “OK for Kids” guarantees implementation of a concept specifically directed towards the needs of families. This has now been attested and certificated by TÜV NORD for these latest two Familotels.
TÜV NORD has been certifying child-friendly services and products according to the criteria and rules of the DKSB since 2002. “The list of certification criteria not only reflects the interests and wishes of parents, but also those of children – it is quite natural that parents and children have different ideas of what makes a good holiday. Our certification mark testifies that hotels, leisure parks and others who claim to be child-friendly really do fulfil their promise“, explains Ulf Theike, CEO of TÜV NORD CERT.
The Familotel Group was the first hotel chain in Europe to be certificated by TÜV NORD – in the year 2002. Currently a total of 38 Familotels bear the “OK for Kids” seal of quality. By the end of the year, 16 further Familotels will be re-audited or will apply for initial certification.
