Internal Data Protection Officer: TÜV NORD and BITKOM cooperate in training
Essen: The Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) now receives support from TÜV NORD Akademie and TÜV Informationstechnik (TÜViT) with regard to training. These two TÜV NORD companies have concluded a cooperation agreement with Bitkom Servicegesellschaft which bundles their competences for the training of potential internal data protection officer.
The data protection officer fulfils an important function in the multi-media age. Every company that processes personal data automatically - no matter what its size or the sector within which it works – is subject to the German Data Protection Act and must fulfil the corresponding obligations. One important task of the internal data protection officer is control and monitoring of the use of data processing programs to ensure compliance with the legislation. The necessary basic legal, technical and organisational knowledge is communicated during the new Bitkom Servicegesellschaft training course. In the following six-month coaching phase, the participants implement initial measures within their companies and, as the need arises, can refer back to a coach who has practical experience. Directly after this, TÜV NORD Akademie – in addition to further training courses on the subject of data protection – offers participants intensive preparation for examination and certification as “Data Protection Officer (TÜV®)”.
TÜV Informationstechnik provides trainers for the intensive preparation for the examination and also sets the certification examination itself. The experts from TÜViT themselves work as data protection officers and can call upon many years of practical experience. The content of the training courses, which are designed to harmonise with each other, offers participants comprehensive training and learning. With certification, this provides high added value for the corporate data protection officer and also the company which can demonstrate that this role exists within its organisation.
