As of January 2020, medical devices certification services have been combined in a new cluster "Medical Device International" in OBS System Certification. Under the management of Ralf Thomsen, this cluster currently comprises seven PCs: TÜV USA, TÜV NORD CERT (four PC's C54 Audit, C49 Expert Management, C12 Clinic & Bio, C09 Project Management) and TÜV NORD Polska. A further PC under TÜV Nord Indonesia is currently under construction.
First product-specific cluster
“Medical Device International" is the first product-specific cluster to be included in OBS system certification. The strategic growth field of "Medical Device" is thus moving further into focus. The aim is to bundle our activities in the Medical Devices area and to promote them more strongly internationally. "The first and largest project of our new cluster is the testing of protective equipment for the medical field," explains Ralf Thomsen. "It is also a great example of how successfully the cross-company cooperation in OBS system certification works".
About Ralf Thomsen
Ralf Thomsen began his career at TÜV NORD in 2002 in the nuclear engineering department in Hamburg. In 2009 he became Managing Director of TUV UK in England, where he lived for four years. After his return to Germany, he coordinated the Industry, Services and Mergers & Acquisitions division before moving abroad again: in 2015 he took over as Managing Director of TUV USA in Salem, New Hampshire. Since the summer of 2018, he has been working again as "Vice President Medical Device International" at TÜV NORD CERT in Hamburg, where he lives with his wife and two children.
