Shape-shifting drone could search and rescue in disaster zones

Researchers at the University of Zurich have developed a shape-shifting drone, which can easily access disaster zones during search and rescue missions. The drone reaches the disaster zones by folding and contracting the arms. It also has two integrated cameras.

To ensure the safety of the rescue team in case of a collapsed house the drone can enter small spaces and cracks to stream footages for the rescue team. This makes the rescue missions more efficient and effective in general. Also this technology is more economical in circumstances where a helicopter could be used.
