Weltbank / Uganda

TÜV NORD CERT's climate protection team has already successfully completed many contracts for the World Bank in the past. A further order in May meant that Stefan Winter (team leader) and his colleague David Lubanga travelled to Uganda to verify the CO2 savings of a Programme of Activities (PoA) which covers the electrification of rural households that for cost reasons had not yet been connected to the electricity supply. These households have now received a free electricity connection. The World Bank is both a financier and buyer of the CO2 certificates resulting from the project. The revenue from the CO2 certificates will then be used to finance further connections. The programme is coordinated locally by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development of Uganda.
