Annual Specialist, Laboratory and Inspection Managers’ Meeting

Around 70 technical, laboratory and inspection managers informed themselves in September about new topics from conformity assessment. Invited by the TÜV NORD CERT certification body management, Dr. Dirk Stenkamp presented the "TÜV NORD way" in an opening speech: "In the course of digitisation, our services must remain innovative so that we can continue to meet the current requirements of our customers. This is particularly true in view of a world that is changing ever more rapidly – especially with regard to technical developments." Dr. Stenkamp emphasised that the most important asset to be able to take this path was the extensive knowledge that TÜV NORD CERT’s technical, laboratory and inspection managers bring to their field of expertise and to the company.

Grüner Knopf ("Green Button")

Recently, textiles can be offered in Germany with the label "Grüner Knopf“ (translated: „Green Button“). TÜV NORD CERT supported the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in the development of the label and now offers a certification according "Grüner Knopf“. The state seal of approval can be awarded to clothing companies that have their textiles manufactured under strict social and ecological standards. The 26 social and ecological standards include the payment of minimum wages, a ban on children and forced labour as well as specifications on the use of chemicals and air pollution. The project was carried out by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The corresponding certification must be recognised by the DAkkS. TÜV NORD CERT supported GIZ in assessing the criteria and requirements for certification. In a pilot phase, the first six pilot customers have now been certified by TÜV NORD CERT and have received the "Grüner Knopf" label from the BMZ. "Grüner Knopf" is initially only be awarded in Germany, but is to be expanded internationally in the long term.
