Market opportunities through reduction of CO2 emissions
Alongside manufacturing industry, service providers are also required to reduce their CO2 emissions based on the need for greater climate protection and the fact that consumers are becoming more environmentally aware. With certification from TÜV NORD CERT, providers of all kinds of services and in all sectors can base their activities on sustainable principles, take positive action against global warming and raise their profile vis à vis the competition
Two certifications are available
“Service Carbon Footprint” certification by TÜV NORD verifies the carbon footprint of services provided and confirms that the greenhouse gases that are generated - for example from transportation of goods or energy consumption - have been correctly determined. In addition, organisations who also wish to show that their services are carbon-neutral can apply for a second certification. This demonstrates that certificates from recognised climate protection projects have been purchased and withdrawn from the market in order to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions. Services certified as carbon neutral are recognised with the “Carbon-neutral service” mark.
Benefits from comprehensive monitoring
As well as contributing to environmental protection and providing an additional argument when appealing to consumers, certification may also yield important commercial benefits. Comprehensive monitoring of the emission sources by impartial third-party experts identifies savings potentials and offers an opportunity to reduce costs. TÜV NORD CERT has wide-ranging experience in this area both nationally and internationally. It is accredited by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for the validation, verification and certification of climate protection projects and has provided services for around 2,000 such projects to date.
