Quality is the essential basis of product manufacture. Conformity is intended to ensure consistent quality. COP inspections are required by law within the framework of the type approval procedure.

The manufacturer of an approved type is obliged to develop and perform a COP procedure. The procedures with regard to conformity of production are intended to ensure that each vehicle, system and component that is manufactured, and also each separate technical unit, corresponds to the approved type. This is the only way that quality can be guaranteed.

Each holder of a type approval must install and use specified testing and inspection procedures to ensure effective control of conformity of production. These procedures must be performed and recorded at regular intervals. The holder of a type approval is responsible for the conformity of his products with the approval that has been issued. He must present the results of the tests and inspections at the request of the approval authority.

We discuss and agree on the necessary testing and inspection with the manufacturer, perform the tests and inspections and document the results. The Institute for Vehicle Technology and Mobility is happy to support you in all questions regarding the approval process, and is always at your side with advice and support.
