Material analyses and mix-up tests

Methods for determining the chemical composition of metallic materials

TÜV NORD laboratories have various devices and methods (optical emission spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence analysis) at their disposal for determining the chemical composition of metallic materials, in particular steel, nickel, aluminum and copper-based materials. Both stationary and portable devices based on optical emission spectrometry are available for the comprehensive determination of the chemical composition of a metallic material.

All accompanying and alloying elements of iron, nickel, aluminum and copper-based materials can be determined with an accuracy of up to 99.999 %. Mobile on site, iron and nickel-based materials can be analyzed completely except for the accompanying elements phosphorus and sulphur. Further mobile analysis devices based on the X-ray fluorescence analysis process principle are particularly suitable for confusion tests for alloyed steels.

TÜV NORD Institute for Materials Testing supports you in solving problems in the operation of your facility or in the manufacture of your products. We are a testing institute accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and certified according to ISO 9001, which offers you comprehensive material tests completely from one source.
