Radiation Protection in Industry – Materials Testing, Quality Assurance and NDT

Industrial applications such as X-ray inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT) or quality assurance require strict compliance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV). TÜV NORD carries out expert inspections of X-ray systems, radiation-emitting devices and radioactive sources – legally compliant, practice-oriented and tailored to the industry.

In industry, ionising radiation is used in a wide variety of applications – for example, in the X-ray inspection of welds, castings or pipelines. This enables materials testing, quality assurance and non-destructive testing (NDT) to be carried out with precision and reliability.

The Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) defines when facilities require licensing or notification, which initial and expert inspections are mandatory, and how the protection of personnel and the environment must be ensured.

TÜV NORD provides comprehensive support in industrial radiation protection – with officially recognised expert inspections, leak testing of sealed radioactive sources, specialist training courses and practice-oriented consultancy – both nationally and internationally.
