Independent testing, assessments and certification help to identify the risks associated with AI systems, enhance their trustworthiness and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
The EU AI Act sets out risk-based requirements for the development and use of artificial intelligence. Depending on the risk class and the organisation’s role, requirements may include risk management, transparency, documentation and human oversight. TÜV NORD supports organisations in understanding the relevant requirements and aligning their AI governance accordingly.
Organisations can have their AI systems assessed for security, reliability and regulatory compliance. TÜV NORD also offers certification of AI management systems in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001. This certification verifies whether appropriate processes and responsibilities have been established for the controlled use of artificial intelligence. However, such certification does not replace any conformity assessment of individual AI systems that may be required.
ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard for AI management systems. Certification by TÜV NORD helps organisations demonstrate their responsible use of artificial intelligence, systematically manage AI risks and strengthen the trust of customers and business partners. Certification is voluntary and can support compliance with regulatory requirements.
The TÜV NORD Academy offers practice-oriented AI training courses for specialists and managers. These include qualifications such as AI Manager (TÜV), AI Specialist (TÜV) and Prompt Engineer (TÜV). These training programmes equip participants with the skills required for the safe, cost-effective and legally compliant use of artificial intelligence, as well as for the implementation of the EU AI Act.
