TÜV NORD UMWELTSCHUTZ
Commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities often emit odors that can negatively impact the quality of life in surrounding areas. To minimize the effects on the environment and public health, authorities are increasingly requiring a comprehensive assessment of odor emissions.
Unlike material components (organic, inorganic substances and dusts) and physically measurable variables such as sound, vibrations and light, odours cannot be evaluated and assessed by electronic or chemical sensors, but only by humans. Their potentially annoying effect is individually perceived by human noses. Trained test persons are used. A distinction is made between odour emissions and odour immissions.
