The Product Carbon Footprint captures all greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire lifecycle of a product. It is an established method for assessing a product’s climate impact.
The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) provides a transparent overview of the greenhouse gas emissions a product generates throughout its entire lifecycle – from raw material extraction, production, and usage to disposal.
It visualizes emissions, helps reduce or even avoid them, and thus provides a solid foundation for more sustainable decision-making.
We calculate the PCF according to the internationally recognized standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol – the globally leading framework for determining and communicating product-related carbon footprints. This makes climate protection tangible and actionable.
The PCF comprises the total greenhouse gas emissions caused by a product in the various phases of its life cycle.
The Cradle-to-Gate approach takes into account all processes from the extraction of resources to the production of preliminary products and the manufacture of the end product itself, right up to the point at which it leaves the company.
The Cradle-to-Grave approach covers the entire life cycle of the product, including emissions from the utilisation phase and the end of the product's life.
Outcome: Written report “Product Carbon Footprint”
The PCF shows how much CO₂ a product generates over its entire lifecycle.
The results help to make materials, processes and designs more climate-friendly.
A PCF strengthens customer confidence by disclosing the carbon footprint of individual products.
Products with a lower carbon footprint are increasingly in demand and can appeal to new target groups.
