Ihr QS System in der Lebensmittelindustrie

QS-Prüfzeichen für Lebensmittelsicherheit und Qualität – anerkanntes Siegel für kontrollierte Lebensmittel in allen Produktionsstufen.

QS-certified fresh food products

The QS certification mark from the food industry forms a standardised and reliable inspection system and guarantees consumers safe and high-quality products. The QS scheme provides (wholesale) trading and production companies from the fruit and vegetable sectors as well as companies involved in the slaughtering, cutting, processing, breeding, transport of animals or the production of animal feed from the meat sector with proof of the impeccable quality and clear origin labelling of their products.

The QS inspection system for safe food involves all those involved in food production, from the farmer to the shop counter. The inspection is based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Products that pass all stages of the QS scheme bear the corresponding QS certification mark. This means that your consumers can also see the information. The standard is not recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative and is particularly widespread in Germany.

FAQs about QS certification

The QS scheme is a food industry initiative that sees itself as an alliance for active consumer protection. As early as 2001, the agricultural and food industry launched the QS scheme, a quality assurance system for meat and meat products that covers all stages of production and trade.

It is run by QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH, whose shareholders are associations and organisations from the agricultural and food industry that represent the individual production and marketing stages.

The QS scheme controls the production and trading processes of fresh food and guarantees its quality. The blue QS certification mark confirms compliance with the QS requirements for the production and marketing of meat and sausage as well as fruit, vegetables and potatoes.

Products that have been produced and marketed in accordance with the requirements of the QS scheme may be labelled with the QS certification mark.

These include

  • Meat, meat products and sausage
  • Fruit, vegetables, potatoes
  • culinary herbs

Both German and international products are labelled with the QS certification mark. Milk, fish and eggs are excluded from the QS scheme. We offer certification for fish via the ASC, MSC and GLOBALG.A.P. standards.

The QS inspection system covers all legal requirements for food manufacturers. In addition, QS requires the systematic control of animal welfare and animal health in feed monitoring, antibiotics monitoring, salmonella monitoring and residue monitoring.

A summary of all requirements that go beyond the legal requirements can be found on the QS website.
