Driving licence categories B, B96 and BE regulate the driving of cars and trailers.

| Notes: | Class B also entitles the holder to drive three-wheeled motor vehicles within Germany; however, in the case of a vehicle with an engine power exceeding 15 kW, this applies only if the licence holder is at least 21 years old. |

| Notes: | Acquisition of the entitlement through driver training in accordance with Annex 7a of the Driving Licence Regulation (FeV) provided by a driving school or a driving instructor. |

| Minimum age: | 18 years (17 years when accompanied by a driver aged 17) |
| Requirements: | Must already hold a Class B licence |
| Validity: | Class BE is valid indefinitely |

| Notes: | Class C1E is required for vehicle combinations comprising a Class B towing vehicle and a trailer with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 3,500 kg. |
