Tractor driving licence

Driving licence categories L and T entitle the holder to drive certain agricultural and forestry vehicles. Both categories are valid indefinitely.

Class L

Tractors (national category)

  • which, by their design, are intended for use in agriculture and forestry and are used for such purposes,
  • with a maximum design speed not exceeding 40 km/h, and combinations of such vehicles, provided they
  • are driven at a speed not exceeding 25 km/h

Self-propelled machinery, self-propelled feed mixers, forklift trucks and other industrial trucks

  • each with a maximum design speed of not more than 25 km/h and
  • combinations of these vehicles and trailers.

Class T

Tractors (national category)

  • with a maximum design speed not exceeding 60 km/h and
  • which, by their design, are intended for use in agriculture and forestry and are used for such purposes (including with trailers)

Self-propelled machinery or self-propelled feed mixers

  • with a maximum design speed of not more than 40 km/h,
  • which, by virtue of their design, are intended for use in agriculture and forestry and are used for such purposes (including with trailers)

Class T at a glance

Validity:Class T is valid indefinitely
Inclusion:Classes L and AM
Notes:Tractors in Class T with a maximum design speed of more than 40 km/h may only be driven by holders who have reached the age of 18.
