Industry 4.0

"Industry 4.0" describes the phenomenon of the fourth great upheaval in industry – after the first three industrial revolutions: mechanisation in the 19th century, assembly-line production from the mid-20th century and the use of software as of the 1980s. In Industry 4.0, components, systems and whole industrial plants are networked. They communicate with each other and exchange data to increase productivity and efficiency.
