As an accredited testing, inspection, and certification body, TÜV NORD offers comprehensive services for railway technology. With safety assessments, conformity tests in accordance with European and national standards, and product certifications, TÜV NORD supports manufacturers, operators, and suppliers in meeting the highest quality and safety requirements.

The inspection body SEELAB, based at TÜV NORD, is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) as a type A inspection body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012.

Our comprehensive accreditation in the field of railway technology includes inspection according to individual standards as well as inspection according to the "Technical Specifications for Interoperability" (TSI) and independent safety assessment according to the European Regulation (EU) 402/2013 ("CSM Regulation"). This enables us to carry out comprehensive inspections in many areas of railway technology.

Independent assessment body (AsBo)

TÜV NORD is recognised by the Federal Railway Authority as an Independent Assessment Body in accordance with the Implementing Regulation (EU) 402/2013 ("CSM Regulation"). On the basis of this recognition, TÜV NORD is authorised as a type A inspection body to carry out independent assessments for the subsystem "railway vehicles" (in the field of CCS limited to "integration into the vehicle").

Specific location (DeBo) Germany

TÜV NORD is recognised in Germany as a Designated Body in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/797 by the Federal Railway Authority. The recognition includes conformity assessments according to Notified National Technical Rules (NNTR) in the subsystems

TÜV NORD is recognised in Denmark as a Designated Body by the Danish Transport Agency (Trafikstyrelsen). The recognition includes conformity assessments according to Notified National Technical Rules (NNTR).

Notified body (NoBo) for railway interoperability

  • About TÜV NORD LUXEMBOURG S.à r.l. can carry out EC conformity assessments in the railway sector in accordance with the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI). The EC conformity assessments are carried out in accordance with the European "Interoperability Directive" (EU) 2016/797 in the structural subsystems:
  • Rolling stock
  • infrastructure
  • Train control, command and signalling (CCS)
  • Energy
  • Based on its accreditation as a certification body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 by the German Accreditation Body DAkkS, TÜV NORD LUXEMBOURG S.à r.l. is notified as a Notified Body for Railway Interoperability (NoBo; organisme notifié).
  • In addition, TÜV NORD LUXEMBOURG S.à r.l. is recognised as a Designated Body (DeBo; organsime compétent) by the Administration des Chemins de Fer in Luxembourg for conformity assessment in accordance with the notified national Luxembourg technical regulations.

Certification body (SEECERT)

TÜV NORD Systems GmbH & Co. KG is listed with the certification body "SEECERT" at the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 as an accredited certification body for products under the DAkkS procedure number: ZE-11074-01.

SEECERT is accredited by the German Accreditation Body DAkkS as a certification body for products, processes and services in the fields of functional safety, railway technology, fire protection and power plant control technology for the certification of the safety, quality and reliability of hardware, software, hardware-software systems, processes and materials in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 (accreditation number: D-ZE-11074-01).

  • We issue certificates for safety, quality and reliability for our customers as Safety Approved, Safety Approved SEooC, Approved Material, Trusted Tool, Trusted Process, FSM.
  • Your products are complex, as are the development and manufacturing processes involved in their production. It is therefore difficult for manufacturers to make the safety and quality of their products transparent and for users to determine their safety and quality.
  • With its certificates, SEECERT confirms the safety, quality and reliability of your software, hardware, materials or processes.
  • Manufacturers have an additional sales argument and users have the certainty that they are using high-quality products.
  • The work of the SEECERT certification body is based on absolute confidentiality of the information disclosed during certification. Only in this way is it possible to simultaneously process competing products or systems that are subject to confidentiality.

By locating the SEECERT certification body within TÜV NORD Systems GmbH & Co KG (TNS), the certification body has the financial resources of TNS at its disposal. TNS is supported by the results of all its business activities, including the activities of the certification body.
