Biomass fuels, especially biofuels, are increasingly in demand worldwide. At the same time, natural landscapes and the biological diversity of the ecosphere should be preserved. For this reason, the European Union has adopted Directive 2009/28/EC: since 2011, economic operators using biofuels and liquid biofuels have been able to prove that they are produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

Recognition of RFNBO Certification

TÜV NORD CERT has been recognized by the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) as a certification body for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO). We can now assist companies with the certification of their green hydrogen according to the ISCC EU and REDcert EU standards.

Green hydrogen plays a crucial role in the energy transition. However, its full potential can only be realized if its origin and sustainability are reliably demonstrated.
