Bus driving licence classes D1, D1E, D, and DE

The bus is coming!

Next station: bus driver's licence. Regardless of whether it's for public transportation or the travel industry: You are always responsible for the passengers. The requirements for acquiring a driving license have a corresponding importance. You must do more than just step on the gas pedal – you must also be in general good health. The corresponding health check-up and assessment are available at TÜV NORD. Please get on board.

D1 class

This driving licence is for small buses. You can drive up to 16 people. If you have a trailer, it may not weight more than 750 kg.

Limitation:

Class D1 is generally only issued for 5 years; afterwards, it is renewed each time for another 5 years after you submit a positive fitness examination (company or occupational medical opinion or MPU appraisal and ophthalmologic opinion).

Class D1E

The small-scale licence with the largerer trailer. The combined weight of a bus and a trailer cannot exceed 12,000 kg. The trailer may only be used to transport objects and not for transporting people. And a weighty factor: when loaded, the trailer may not weigh more than the empty bus.

Class D

The standard driving licence in public transport and tourist travel: The buses are heavy and tip the scales at more than 3,500 kg. A trailer may not weigh more than 750 kg.
