Assessment of fitness to drive (MPU)
Services relating to fitness to drive are provided within TÜV NORD Diagnostics by the Medical-Psychological Institute (MPI) and include, in particular, proof of abstinence, the conduct of the MPU, as well as general diagnostic assessments and fitness-for-duty and aptitude examinations (e.g. in accordance with the Locomotive Driver’s Licence Regulation).

TÜV NORD Diagnostics and Nord-Kurs are independent companies within the TÜV NORD GROUP, each with different remits. TÜV NORD Diagnostics, through the Medical-Psychological Institute (MPI), carries out diagnostic services such as MPUs and proof of abstinence. Nord-Kurs, on the other hand, offers counselling and preparatory services, particularly for MPU preparation.
This organisational separation complies with the statutory requirement for separation and ensures that preparation and assessment are carried out independently of one another. This guarantees the objectivity, neutrality and independence of the diagnostic assessment.
