A transparent, fully managed process – from identifying standards to market launch.

1

Analysis & Planning

We identify the relevant safety, EMC, EMF, RF and type-approval standards for your product and your target markets, assist with the preparation of documentation and efficiently prepare everything for testing – with a clear focus on market requirements.

2

Preliminary tests & official examination

We carry out preliminary tests to identify potential defects at an early stage and avoid costly delays. We then carry out all necessary tests (EMC, EMF, RF) in our DAkkS-accredited laboratory in Cologne – or via accredited partner laboratories on site, where required.

3

Test reports & rectification of non-conf

We document all results in detailed test reports that comply with regulatory requirements and provide clear evidence of conformity. Should a test not be passed, we will work with you to identify the necessary changes and organise a retest.

4

Certification & Labelling

We handle the submission process and liaise with the relevant authorities and certification bodies. Once approval has been granted, you will receive your certificate and can affix the required markings (e.g. CE, FCC, ISED, MIC).

5

Market access & ongoing compliance

We ensure your product is launched safely in your target markets. We keep a close eye on renewal deadlines, regulatory changes and recertification requirements to ensure your market access remains up to date at all times.

Frequently asked questions about our international certification and approval services

Yes. We provide support for type approval and market access in over 190 countries across the Asia-Pacific, North America, the Middle East, Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. For each market, we handle the entire process – from preparing the documentation to appointing local representatives, identifying the relevant authority and the final handover of the certificates.

We offer both testing and certification services. Our DAkkS-accredited laboratory in Cologne carries out comprehensive EMC, RF and safety tests. For markets that require local testing, such as China, Taiwan or Japan, we coordinate on your behalf with accredited local partners and laboratories.

Yes, TÜV NORD can handle the CCC certification for China. We work with a testing partner in China recognised by the SRRC and manage the entire SRRC/CCC certification process on your behalf. Our team coordinates the mandatory appointment of a local representative and takes care of all the necessary documentation. Lead times are usually between 6 and 10 weeks, depending on the product.

Yes, TÜV NORD can carry out both FCC and ISED (Canada) certifications in-house. Our laboratory in Cologne is accredited as an FCC Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) and as an ISED CAB, meaning that our test reports are recognised directly by both authorities. We support both the full certification process and the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) procedure, and can also handle the local requirements for importers where necessary.

Processing times vary depending on the country. In straightforward markets, approval procedures can be completed within 1 to 3 weeks. In more complex markets, this can take 4 to 12 weeks. At the start of each project, we provide you with a detailed timetable to ensure transparency and keep you informed throughout the process.

In many cases, yes. Markets such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and the United Kingdom often accept CE/RED test reports for type approval, provided they are up to date. We will review your existing documentation and advise you on which markets these can be used in directly, thereby reducing both costs and lead times.

Although not in every market, many countries require a local representative or importer, including China, Saudi Arabia, Canada, the USA, South Korea and Mexico. Where this is required, we can provide a local representative through our partner network or liaise with your preferred local contact to ensure compliance with the legal requirements.

You can contact us via our contact form or directly by email at info.approvals@tuev-nord.de.

To provide you with a quote, we’ll need a brief product description, details of your target markets, and any existing test reports or certifications. We will usually send you a draft proposal within one working day. You can also view our overview of country-specific requirements to gain a detailed insight into lead times, the relevant authorities and the requirements for local representatives in the individual markets.
